So, you've decided that you want to join our insane little group on IRC? Or, has the Java Chat client has pissed you off for the last time?
Yes, it does suck. That's why most of us in the channel don't use it, except when we're not at home using our own computers. Or when we're on a computer with an IRC client installed.
Instead of making you suffer through the stupidity of the Java Chat, Kala's decided to write a tutorial to help people get over the phobia of using mIRC to connect to our channel. It's actually quite easy! :P
| Command | Action |
| /me youractionhere | Send an action out to the channel, like this: * RobinSena whistles |
| /join #channel | Join a channel with the name CHANNEL. |
| /part #channel | Leave a channel named CHANNEL |
| /quit whatevermessageyouwanthere | Quits IRC, with your message. |
| /exit | Completely closes out mIRC. |
| /NickServ register urpasswerd your@ema.il | Register your unique nickname, so no one can steal it
from you! You will be e-mailed by NickServ an authorization code. Just
copy paste the command they send you into mIRC and hit Enter. :D If you do register your name, PLEASE USE YOUR REAL E-MAIL! Or else, you won't get the authorization code! :|| Also, your password IS case-sensitive! |
| /NickServ identify urpasswerd | Tells NickServ that you are the owner of the nickname. You probably want to put this command in step 5 once you register your nickname with the "/join #stnj" thing you typed in there before, so you will automatically identify for your nickname when you connect. Be careful! |
